Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 440 of 501

"Haha, of course it's Black Widow. Once this job is done, that address can be shut down, and Black Widow disappears," Yang Ce said. "No more domestic jobs after that—save ourselves the trouble."

Wang Yanqiu nodded and thought: Yang Ce is truly wicked—even on the last job, he fleeces a fat sheep. But from what Wei Jin said, the man he wants killed, Zou Ruoguang, seems to have a grudge against Yan too. So he asked, "Yang Ce, who is this Zou Ruoguang?"

"Oh, Zou Ruoguang? A moron. He chased after Chen Shutang before, then went after Zhao Ying later. I've had it in for him for a long time," Yang Ce said.

Wang Yanqiu was speechless. Wei Jin really had the worst luck in the world—this time, Yang Ce had taken him for a ride and then some.

"Hungry? Want to go get something to eat?" After dropping Chen Shutang home, Yang Ce had come back without eating anything and gone straight to Wang Yanqiu's place.

"A little," Wang Yanqiu said with a nod. "What do you want to eat?"

"There's a newly opened Sichuan restaurant near the compound—I hear it's pretty good. Interested in giving it a try?" Yang Ce said.

"Oh, please. You went there with Sister Ying yesterday, didn't you?" Wang Yanqiu shot him a look. "'I hear'—"

Yang Ce was instantly embarrassed. He hadn't expected Zhao Ying to have told Wang Yanqiu all about it. A little awkwardly he said, "Ha, well, it's just really good. You want to go try it or not?"

"Of course I want to go," Wang Yanqiu said. "Sister Ying said so today—the food there's quite good."

Yang Ce nodded, started the car, and drove off in the direction of the compound.

As for Wei Jin, he couldn't wait to log on to the website Yang Ce had given him.

"Black Widow." Wei Jin looked at the all-black website interface and read the words aloud. "What a fierce name—same as a venomous spider in Africa. This must be one hell of a hit squad."

Wei Jin entered the password Yang Ce had given him, then went onto the hit squad's main page and, following the process laid out there, filled in his request and the general situation regarding his target.

That done, Wei Jin began the anxious wait for a reply.

"Young Master Wei, are you really going to spend that much money to kill Zou Ruoguang?" Gu felt a pang of distress—how much money was that? "Gu, don't call me Young Master Wei anymore. The two of us are going to spend the rest of our lives together; no need for such formality. Just call me Wei Jin." Wei Jin waved his hand and said, "Zou Ruoguang has to die. Gu, he's the one who ruined us both. If he doesn't die, I'll never have peace for the rest of my life."

"All right, Wei Jin. But is doing this really worth it?" Gu said.

"What's there to be worth or not worth? The savings in the bank are already plenty for our medical bills and daily expenses. Any more money would be useless. We're both sick people—what use are those worldly possessions to us?" Wei Jin had let go; he no longer cared about anything.

Gu sighed with melancholy. Indeed, Wei Jin was right—the two of them really had no use for that much money. Since Wei Jin was determined to kill Zou Ruoguang, then let him do it.

"All right, you have my support." Having thought it through, Sister Gu said this with firm resolve.

"Thank you for understanding, Sister Gu." Wei Jin smiled with relief.

Wei Jin, a tragic figure, was doomed to become a tragedy. Pitiful as he was, who was there to blame? Every last bit of it was his own doing.

If he had not come up with that vicious scheme to harm Liu Baoqiang back then, he would never have sunk to where he was today.

Yang Ce parked the car in front of the Sichuan restaurant, and he and Wang Yanqiu went inside together.

"It's really packed in here." Looking at the crowded restaurant, Wang Yanqiu could not help but marvel. The lunch rush was long over, and yet so many diners were still here—it spoke volumes about how good the food must be.

"How many in your party, sir?" A server came over and asked Yang Yanchuan.

"Two," Yang Yanzhou said.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we're full right now. Would you mind waiting a little while?" the server said apologetically. "All the private rooms have been reserved in advance. We really don't have a table."

"Oh. How long will the wait be?" Yang Ce glanced around the restaurant—indeed, every seat was taken. "We can't just stand here like idiots forever."

"Sir, here's an idea—leave us your mobile number and take a stroll nearby. I'll call you as soon as a table opens up, all right?" the server suggested.

"That works." Yang Yuting nodded, left his number, and said, "If a table opens up, just call me directly."

After leaving the restaurant with Wang Yanqiu, she said, "Yang Ce, why must we eat here? And wait in line, no less."

"I saw how much you were looking forward to it, so I decided to wait. Or should we just forget it?" Yang Hengye asked in return.

"Then let's wait." Wang Yanqiu did want to try the food—she was a bit of a glutton, and seeing how wildly popular the place was, she was hardly about to pass it up.

"Then let's sit in the car for a while," Yang Yanzhou said. "Most of the people in the main hall are here for a meal, not to drink themselves senseless. A table should open up soon enough."

The two of them got into the car. Yang Ce was just about to turn on the radio when Wang Yanqiu's phone rang. She took it out, her brows knitting at once, and hung up.

"Why didn't you answer?" Yang Mo found it odd that Wang Yanqiu would cut the call.

"I don't want to. Answering would just put me in a bad mood." Wang Yanqiu shook her head. "I'm in a good mood right now. I don't want to ruin it."

"Oh." Yang Shuoxuan did not press further. He turned on the car radio, tuned it to some music station, and listened.

Before long, Wang Yanqiu's phone rang again. Looking at the caller ID, she seemed at a loss.

"Answering or not?" Yang Ce reached for the radio's volume knob and asked.

"Ugh." Wang Yanqiu sighed, nodded, picked up the phone, and pressed the answer button. Yang Shuoxuan obligingly turned the volume down to the lowest setting.

"Hello?" Wang Yanqiu answered.

"Yanyan, how have you been lately?" A middle-aged man's concerned voice came through the line.

"Fine," Wang Yanqiu answered flatly.

"Have you been homesick? When are you coming back to see me? My health hasn't been too good lately," the man on the other end said.

"Is that so? I couldn't tell. Your voice is deep and robust—I can't see any sign of poor health." Wang Yanqiu saw straight through his lie; he said this almost every time he called.

"Ahem, ahem." Her father gave a dry laugh. "Well, if you don't want to come back, then don't. There are still three and a half years, after all—you'll have to come back eventually."

"We'll talk about it then." Wang Yanqiu's expression turned cold.

"This is what we agreed on. I hope you'll honor it," her father said.

"Of course. I always keep my word. But I hope you'll honor your promise as well," Wang Yanqiu said.

"You mean—if you make the Assassin Group number one in the world, I'll agree to let you break off the engagement?" her father asked with a laugh.

"Yes," Wang Yanqiu said. "I hope you won't forget."

"Of course I won't." Her father laughed heartily, utterly unconcerned. "How's that Assassin Group of yours coming along? Ah, it's so hard to get any news of you over here. That little group of yours is really quite obscure."

How could Wang Yanqiu miss the mockery in those words? Her face flushed red with anger, and she gave a cold snort. "Obscure it may be now, but it won't be long before you know all about it."

"Oh, then I'll wait and see." Her father laughed carelessly. "Still, I'd advise you to give it up. Don't waste your energy."

"That's none of your business." Furious, Wang Yanqiu hung up and sat there glaring, short of breath.

Seeing her like this, Yang Mo found it strange—it took real effort to get this girl this angry.
