Chapter 327 — Making Trouble out of Nothing
Years of Heartflutter Page 3 of 3
Xu Qianhang had been turning over the idea of calling his old man to have him find someone and get the car released—only to find that Yang Ce had already settled things on his end. He did not know how Yang Ce had managed it, but he was somewhat displeased all the same, thinking: Why back out? One phone call from me and it's done. We could just keep driving through.
Yet for all his stubborn talk, Xu Qianhang was uneasy inside and did not much dare trouble his old man. Since Yang Ce wanted to back the car out, it would not count as losing face for him either, so he agreed, and together with Yang Ce he backed the car out.
After Yang Ce left, the traffic cop who had stopped Xu Qianhang's car said to another officer, an older man, "Just look at the class of the fellow in the car behind. He had military papers—even if he was driving the wrong way, we couldn't touch him—and yet he politely backed his car out. The one in front had nothing, not even a legitimate plate, and he was still that arrogant."
"Do you know whose car that was behind?" The older officer slapped his forehead. "I thought the driver looked familiar just now, and it's finally come to me. That man seems to be Captain Xia of the Criminal Investigation Unit's boyfriend."
"What?" The officer started. "The man who was just driving was Xia Xue's boyfriend?"
"You weren't on that mysterious hit-and-run case back then, so naturally you wouldn't know!" the older officer said with a touch of smugness. "Do you know how that case was cracked? Captain Xia and her boyfriend cracked it together! The stretch of road I was on duty at the time was where that horrifying hit-and-run happened, and it was the two of them who came to survey the scene together! As for exactly which department Captain Xia's boyfriend is in, I'm not too clear either, but he seems to be quite something."
"Quick, tell me about that mysterious hit-and-run case!" The officer had clearly heard
the rumors about that case, and his interest was instantly roused. He pressed on.
"That, now... once we're off duty in a bit, we'll have time to talk about it..." But the older officer
put on airs.
"Brother Zhang, I'll treat you to a meal after work in a bit—we can talk while we eat..." the officer hurriedly said.
