Chapter 1813 — Is She Dying?

The Blossom Guardian

"Reporting to Elder Zhang, we have not seen her return to rest. From what we can judge, apart from eating a little compressed biscuit and drinking a little mineral water each morning, she has not moved her body at all!" said the valley patrol disciple.

Elder Zhang nodded in surprise. This patrol disciple was an Earth-rank expert himself; if a man of his judgment said Tang Yun had not gone back to rest, then she had not rested. But Tang Yun's endurance left Elder Zhang astonished.

He was tempted to speak with the elders on the platform once more, but thinking of what the Grand Elder had said earlier, he shook his head again, sighed, and turned to go about his duties...

Every day, the valley patrol disciples reported Tang Yun's condition to Elder Zhang, and Elder Zhang had gone from initial astonishment to present bewilderment. Was Tang Yun even a normal person? So many days and she still had not frozen to death? Could she be a Heaven-rank expert?

One had to understand that at the temperatures of Snow Valley, even Earth-rank experts had to take pills to endure it here. Tang Yun ate only a bit of compressed biscuit and drank some water, and yet nothing happened to her at all? Could she be carrying some rare treasure for warmth?

But at the thought of this possibility, Elder Zhang shook his head again. Tang Yun knew the rules of Snow Valley as well—rare treasures could not only be bought with money, they could also be exchanged for other rare treasures. If Tang Yun truly possessed such a treasure, she would surely have brought it out to trade long ago.

In truth, what Elder Zhang did not know was that although Tang Yun appeared unharmed, her entire body had long since frozen stiff. The biscuit and mineral water she ate each day grew less and less, for her stomach and intestines had been frozen rigid, and her food digested more and more slowly—until this morning, when Tang Yun had not eaten a single bite, because she was no longer hungry!

A deep worry appeared on Gu Mengyao's face. Tang Yun's condition seemed to be growing worse and worse. Before, it had seemed Tang Yun might hold out, but as time passed, it seemed Tang Yun had reached the end of her road, and might die at any moment!

Yet no matter how she and Shen Yushu tried to persuade her, Tang Yun insisted on kneeling here, without moving in the slightest!

"Alas, are the people of this Snow Valley all made of stone? Even this will not move them to consent?" Gu Mengyao worried not only about Tang Yun, but also about Wei Zhao! Wei Zhao's body grew hotter and hotter; now the car did not even need the heater—the entire cabin was warmed by Wei Zhao's body heat...

But Gu Mengyao knew that if this continued, even with Little Shu helping to share the heat, he would likely reach his limit!

By then, she feared even the Ice Spirit Sacred Fruit would be unable to suppress the fire of qi deviation raging within Wei Zhao's body, and by then, it would be too late for anything.

Hold on, hold on, I must hold on! This was the cry in Tang Yun's heart!

Her legs had lost all feeling, her body had lost most of its feeling, and her hands could do no more than twitch. She even felt that her very thoughts had grown rigid. In the first few days, she could still recall the sweet moments between her and Wei Zhao to spur herself on through the ordeal, but now, even thinking was difficult...

Yet Tang Yun herself knew that she might be about to die...

Was this what it felt like just before death? Yet Tang Yun seemed not to feel her own suffering at all. Gradually, her consciousness grew blurred, and her whole body seemed suddenly to grow light. In this moment, it was just like the soul leaving the body described in the books of the ancients—she felt as though her body had floated up...

And in that instant, the scene before her eyes changed from its former blurriness to a clarity in which every detail stood out!

To her astonishment, Tang Yun found that she seemed to be standing at the very highest point of Snow Valley, looking down upon the whole of it in this moment—the majestic, towering mountain gate at the valley's center, the high, steep cliffs, the snow-covered earth, the warm sunlight...

These seemed to form the most beautiful of pictures, and a wondrous feeling rose in Tang Yun's heart—it was as though she had melted into this picture!

Tang Yun took a step, strolling slowly through the air, while the flying snow of the sky drifted down around her, yet not a single flake seemed to touch her—rather, when it came near her, it gently melted away!

In this moment, Tang Yun felt as though she were a heavenly being, and all things in Snow Valley seemed to exist for her sake. She reached out her hand lightly, and the flying snow before her became a small whirlpool in turn, hovering between her pure white hands, as though performing for her, fawning upon her...

The body that had been stiff before seemed no longer to exist in this moment; she could no longer feel that piercing chill. This vast expanse of white snow seemed utterly unable to affect her—rather, the sunlight in the sky gave Tang Yun a warm, comfortable, free sensation...

Was this the last radiance before death? Tang Yun wondered... Many people, before they die, see their souls leave their bodies and float into the distance—that was what all those ghost stories said, and many who had been snatched back from the brink of death had similar feelings at the moment of dying, did they not?

Whether it was as comfortable as this, Tang Yun did not know, for in her heart at this moment there was a feeling of happiness, and that feeling grew ever stronger as time passed!

In her daze, Tang Yun seemed to feel that the once majestic, towering mountain gate of Snow Valley had suddenly grown smaller and smaller, and the imposing cliffs at the other end of the valley now seemed as nothing in her eyes. In this moment, she seemed to have become the master of this place, its sovereign!

Even the Grand Elder and the Valley Master—in this moment, in Tang Yun's heart, there was no longer any fear of them!

It was a wondrous feeling; she seemed no longer that insignificant young girl of before, but had become a mighty heavenly being!

Tang Yun reached out her hand once more, slowly, and she could clearly feel that the wind of Snow Valley, the snow of Snow Valley, seemed all to have become her subjects. She waved her hand at will, and the wind, the snow, changed with her movements!
