Chapter 23 — The Wilderness Village Boy Provokes Divine Might

The Herdsman of the Wasteland · Page 3 of 3

"Piss on a god? " The Blind Elder pissed on the stone idol and laughed.

"Yes, piss on it! As a child you pissed on it a hundred times over—and now you dare not? " Shen Mu gritted his teeth, undid his belt, and a hot stream rushed out, pissing on the stone idol.

That piss was no small matter.

In Shen Mu's eyes the idol was still sacred and solemn, still full of oppressive force—but that feeling of being crushed, of being forced to kneel, had vanished into thin air!

Old man and youth "faced" each other and burst out laughing, full of delight.

The village headman was sunning himself in the doorway; hearing their laughter he turned to look, and at the sight could only shake his head. "The Blind Elder is a wild and flamboyant genius—to think he would use such a method to make Shen'er break the god in his heart and strengthen his spirit.

No one else would ever dream up such a bizarre trick.

And yet Shen'er actually went and pissed along with him—the boy's gall is boundless. By making Shen'er piss on the idol, he breaks the god in Shen'er's heart, and he breaks the god in his own heart as well—that 'god' who dug out his eyes.

.

. the God of the Spear has returned. " He knew why the Blind Elder had done it. The bamboo staff in the Blind Elder's hand was no bamboo staff. It was a spear. In those years, when the Blind Elder walked into Hidden Maimed Village, both his eyes were destroyed and his body gravely wounded, a wretched sight, like a beggar in filth. Yet the Blind Elder's steps were steady, and the bamboo staff in his hand was steady.

When he walked into the village, he gave the headman the feeling of a raging dragon sweeping in from all eight directions, charging into the little village; in the headman's eyes the Blind Elder's bearing was a pillar holding up the heavens.

In all the world, only one man could have such spearmanship and such spirit—the God of the Spear!

But the strongest thing about that Spear God was not his spear; it was his eyes—a pair of Sacred Pupils that could see through the flaw in any technique! And now the Blind Elder had passed the Sacred Pupil on, passed it to Shen Mu.

To train the spear, first train the eye; to train the eye, first train the heart!

The Blind Elder's eyes were Sacred Pupils. The stronger the eyes, the more truly they see; and the more truly one sees, the more one beholds of the great and the terrible.
